La crocifissione nell\u2018antico Oriente era un metodo diffuso di esecuzione. Nell\u2018 Impero Romano furono crocifissi, specialmente i non romani, schiavi, criminali in fuga o ribelli, come successe a Ges\u00f9 di Nazareth. Come simbolo del martirio di Ges\u00f9 Cristo e la sua vittoria sulla morte la croce si \u00e8 radicata nella letteratura della musica sacra.<\/p>\n
